DRESS CODE Preschool Classes -Since our preschool dancers will be performing quite a bit this year, we hope to make dress code/costuming easy and affordable. Preschool students will need a red tank leotard, red long-sleeve leotard, pink convertible ballet tights, pink ballet shoes and black tap shoes. We plan on not only using the leotards for class, but for each performance, we will add appropriate decoration (i.e., marabou for Christmas, heart motifs for Valentines, etc…) We will be selling the whole package (2 leotards, 1 pair of tights, 1 pair ballet shoes and 1 pair of tap shoes) for $55, or you may just purchase the two leotards for $25. We hope this will save you a lot of time and headache when trying to find the correct dance attire. Ballet Classes – Level 1-Accelerated Students are required to wear Natalie brand tank (www.discountdance.com style #1502) solid-colored leotard (color is based on level), pink tights, and pink leather or canvas ballet shoes with elastics sewn. Please do not purchase the Simply Basic slippers at Wal-Mart. They do not form the food properly and can cause injury to the student. Leotards, tights and shoes can be purchased or ordered immediately through our studio store. Jazz/Lyrical/Leaps and Turns/Tap – Students are required to wear a leotard and tights to every class. No T-shirts will be allowed. Jazz shoes, tap shoes, pedinis and foot thongs are acceptable footwear. Hip Hop/Triple Threat – Please wear comfortable, casual clothes and tennis shoes! Use your judgment on dress code. Just don’t wear jeans, dress shoes or flip-flops. Tumbling/Cheerleading – Leotard and shorts only! Baggy shirts will not be allowed. All Star Cheer – Please see your head coach for uniform requirements. POLICY Registration Fee - An annual registration fee of $20/student, $30/family will be charged to reserve a spot for you in class. You will also receive a Midwest Dance Explosion logo item with your registration fee. Parent Observation - We realize the need for a parent to view a child’s progress in class, however, extra people in the room will cause a distraction for students. Therefore, we ask that parents do not sit inside the classroom while a class is in session. The instructor will periodically open the door 5 minutes before the class is over to show what students are working on and to answer any questions. We also have viewing windows for you to observe class. Class Placement - The level each student is placed in is based on a combination of age and ability level. The instructor will advise you on the level she feels will provide maximum growth and development at the safest rate. Students will have evaluations periodically to ensure he/she is placed in the best possible class. If you have a question or concern, please see your child’s instructor or the director. It is vital to the students progress and safety that he/ she is in class each week. Excessive absence will cause the student to fall behind and can even cause injury. However, in the case that a class is missed, please call ahead to inform the instructor or the director of the child's absence and schedule a make up class at a similar level. Weather Cancellation - MDE will automatically cancel classes if the Troy School district cancels for the day or has early dismissal. If bad weather arrives in the afternoon hours, please call the studio ahead to see if classes have been canceled. A message will be left on the voicemail if we are canceled. Tuition - Tuition is due the first of the month. A $10 late charge will be given after the 7th of the month. You will receive a bill in your folder for tuition, costumes, competition fees and other miscellaneous items. Tuition will not be prorated for missed class due to your child’s illness or holidays. Some months you may only attend 3 weeks and some you may get 5 weeks. For Monday and Thursday students, since several holidays occur on Mondays or Thursdays, please make up your class. Any student who misses for any reason is always welcome to take a makeup class. Miss Julie will go over appropriate makeup classes with you at your registration meeting. If you get behind on your tuition, please talk to us about making arrangements. We want to work with you and help you! If your child loves classes, we don’t want him or her to have to quit because of financial reasons. Just talk to us and we can help you figure out acceptable arrangements. Your tuition must be current (or arrangements made) for you to be eligible to compete in competitions, be able to order recital costumes and be able to perform in the recital. |
